Teacher Work/Life Balance

Workforce reform, curricular reform and innovation, changes to Ofsted requirements, and so on, all bring changes to teacher’s ways of working as they seek to raise standards.
More work is now completed in time that once belonged to your life outside work. Home is fast becoming just another extension to your workplace.
Teachers are no longer working long hours to keep their skills up to date or to engage in many personal quests for knowledge, they are using this time to keep up with the struggling demands of the job. They are working under increasing pressure, driven by their own desires to do a good job and by the expectations of others to perform and achieve.
Taking work home and working a substantial number of hours at home in addition to working full-time in school has become the norm for many teachers.
Teachers often do not know how to address the situation, even though they know that the quality of their lives and their relationships are suffering as a result of their approach to their work. They have poor Work/Life Balance and do not know how to improve it.
Through coaching programs delivered to groups and individuals I aim to help and facilitate with the following:
-
Develop skills to prioritise and manage teacher workload
-
Create working models to control fears, stresses and worries in the workplace
-
Improve time management skills and productivity
-
Develop confidence to speak up about important issues
-
How to overcome setbacks and how to turn it into a 'positive'
-
Personal goal setting
-
Develop a positive balance between home life and work
-
Help to define the differences between 'achievements' and 'successes'
-
How to manage and challenge the feelings of guilt.
-
Create a workable, present and future plan for an effective and aspirational work/life balance.
